Fine Arts – (0.5 credit required)

Fine Arts credit may be achieved by taking a minimum of ½ credit in music, art, worship and/or drama.

General Music Theory

Students in this class are introduced to the structure of music and to a variety of instruments.

Worship

Students learn the meaning of worship and how it expresses our love and awe for a holy God. Students work on stage presentation, instrumental and voice techniques as they prepare to lead student worship in weekly chapels.

Basic Elements of Drawing

Students will progress through a variety of media from pencil sketches to oil painting.

Photography

Students learn basic photographic principals of light, placement and position with film and digital cameras.

World Art

Students research art around the world and across the centuries. The genres explored in class and through hands on projects include: Gyotaku fish painting, masks, Chinese calligraphy, petroglyphs, Aboriginal art, egg painting, sand painting, and piñatas.

Outreach (0.5 credit)

Students in the Outreach elective take the lead in planning and organizing a broad variety of community service opportunities, ranging from special events to weekly participation in the activities of local organizations.
