It is with great joy that our elementary school sent a check for $881.72 to our friends at The Water Project. (thewaterproject.org)
This money represents hard-earned wages for vacuuming, sweeping, shoveling, doing dishes, cooking meals and even making and selling bracelets. Students from age 4 through 11 brought in their earnings penny by penny and dollar by dollar. We set up a “parking meter” bank on our floor and each day students lined up and put their money in the bank.
We learned a lot about wells and how they help communities thrive. We better understand water is essential and life-giving. Even our youngest students have a new appreciation for the water they use on a daily basis.
