Nashua Christian Academy’s Spiritual Emphasis Week is a highly anticipated yearly event. This year we transformed the basement into a large 50’s diner as a backdrop to learn about service.
Our theme was, “When we serve people with our hands, we love Jesus with our hearts” based on Mark 10:45 “Jesus came from Heaven not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Each day during the week we learned about a different way to serve based on solid Biblical examples by using our time (Good Samaritan), possessions (Feeding of the 5,000), words (Barnabas), talents (Parable of the Talents) and life (Jesus washing the disciple’s feet).
An interactive Bible lesson was taught daily, but our memorable week did not stop there. Each day our very talented teachers served up “daily specials”, taught diner lingo, played Bible ball with the kids and wrote and performed very amusing commercial breaks. Our day would not have been complete without music and other multi-media presentations. All of these came together to provide an amazing experience that students will not soon forget.
At the end of the week, the fourth and fifth grades hosted residents from a local nursing home in our diner and served them ice cream sundaes as young and old reminisced together about the 1950’s. This allowed our students to put into practice what they learned all week about serving with their lives.[slider slide_page=”sew2013″ slider_type=”slides” limit=”7″]
